One of Rolex replica watches most classic models now has the version many have been waiting for - with a reasonably sized steel case and bracelet, optionally with a gold fluted bezel.
Good things come to those who wait, and patience pays off - both of which could be applied to my private wish list for this year's Baselworld and the watch you're reading about right now. Simple, not overloaded, functional - Datejust can be considered a perfect watch even for these reasons. This is also one of the most iconic items in the brand's vintage portfolio, with one essential but ... size. The old Datejusts, shown in 1945, are 36mm. And although they look great in the pictures, on the wrist of an average height man they look a bit like borrowed from a girl. I dreamed of a steel, larger Datejust in the style of gold models - and here it is.
The Oyester Perpetual Datejust 41, just unveiled at Baselworld 2017, is a 41mm steel construction (WR 100m) with a steel Oyster or Jubilee bracelet and Oysterclasp clasp, with easy and quick adjustment. The customer will also be able to choose the bezel of the case: polished or fluted steel, made of 18ct white gold.
Color options for the sun-brushed dial include grey, silver, white, metallic blue (my favourite), black, and white mother-of-pearl (the latter two with diamonds). Each has a set of superimposed hour indices, a Chromalight, simple hands, a central second hand, a Rolex crown at 12 o'clock and a date window at 3 o'clock. Its indications are optically magnified by a magnifying glass glued to the sapphire glass.
The new fake Rolex Datejust features an in-house design - caliber 3235 - with a total of 14 patented technological solutions that improve the accuracy of the movement, shock resistance and durability of individual components. From a purely functional point of view, the most important thing is its precision - an impressive +/- 2s per day, guaranteed by its own accuracy test (Superlative Chronometer), plus an automatic winding charging energy for 70 hours of work.
Prices for the Oyester Perpetual Datejust will start at CHF 7,000 (~PLN 27,950) for the steel bezel version, through CHF 8,900 (~PLN 35,500) for the gold bezel and CHF 13,600 (~PLN 54,300) for the gold bezel and mother of pearl dial. The model with the blue dial jumps high on my private list.
